Helen Jones
Helen joined the team in 2009 and this is her first research post since qualifying as a general nurse at St Bartholomew’s Hospital London in 1976. Previous posts have been as Macmillan Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist and Macmillan Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialist prior to this Helen worked in several different hospices, as a Marie Curie Nurse, care of the elderly, high dependency unit, cardiothoracic surgery and intensive care.
An interest in research developed as a result of seeing a particular group of distressed cancer patients and she went on to obtain a Masters degree by research at Leeds Metropolitan University in 2004. This experienced led to involvement with an ethics committee and NCRI Lung Clinical Studies Groups. Helen is currently on a trial management group for the QUARTz study looking at quality of life for non small cell lung cancer patients with brain metastases.
Helen is working with a team looking at the feasibility of collecting patient reported outcomes via the internet in people living with and beyond cancer
