Christine Allmark

Research Assistant

Christine personal and professional backgrounds are as service user and lecturer in further and higher education respectively. From the perspective of adverse health problems of lupus and oral cancer, Christine has become involved in voluntary sector health related activities including founding support groups for people affected by both conditions.

Christine's recent appointment as Research Assistant for the Macmillan 'Home But Not Alone' study is her first foray into academic health research. She remarks that "it is proving to be an enjoyable and challenging situation as an entirely new learning curve. The opportunity to work towards helping others cope with the problems of adjusting to life with chronic and/or life threatening conditions is something I value and am glad to be able to do, utilising my own personal knowledge and experience."

In addition to this present post, Christine is also a part-time tutor in communication skills in the Medical Education Unit at the University of Leeds. Duties include facilitating seminars for undergraduates, tutorial support for personal portfolio development and examination marking of reflective assignments.

Christine holds a BA(Hons) in English and Inter-Arts from Bretton Hall College, University of Leeds, which she was awarded in 1994.
