Elena graduated from Manchester University after completing her medical degree
(MB.ChB) in 1998. She has worked in several hospitals, mainly in the northwest
region. During her clinical training, Elena became interested in cancer
medicine and moved to Leeds to take up a post as a specialist registrar in
Medical Oncology in 2004.
Elena joined the Leeds Psychosocial Oncology Clinical Practice Group in November 2007, as an "out of programme experience from clinical training". Her primary research interests are looking at the utilisation and impact of patient reported outcomes and health related quality of life in routine clinical practice, particularly in advanced colorectal cancer patients.
